Purefoods TJ Giants, 1 win away from their 5th All-Filipino title

The Giants came big in the last 5mins to overcome a 13point deficit in Game 3. Thanks to a trey and a slam from Nino Caneleta that created a spark. Felt like de ja vu from Game 2 where Purefoods was down and won the game with 1 point.

As usual, Sakuragi (Marc Pingris), was all over the place, running after the loose ball.

Kerby gave the PF the lead with a beautiful pump fake against Joe Devance!

Although James Yap went 0-6 from the arc, he made the shots that he needed to make!

Everybody had a good game. PJ Simon is starting to get back in form. Reavis doing his best job under the basket. And of course, Roger Yap, who’s playing the best in his career.

Willie Miller had a chance to win the game with 3.4 secs left, but the defense of the Giants was solid.

Final score: Purefoods 79 - Alaska 78.

The Aces will try to extend the series on Wednesday, but I’m sure Coach RG will bring all the guns to seal the deal!

1 more win, guys! Let’s do this! Go Purefoods!!

2-0 baby!!!

James Yap rallied Purefoods from a 14-point fourth quarter deficit before Kerby Raymundo nailed the game-winning free throw in the Giants’ thrilling 86-85 come-from-behind victory over the Alaska Aces Friday in their KFC-PBA Philippine Cup Finals. (TeamPilipinas.info)

Purefoods played great basketball last night. And even if that foul wasn’t called, PF would have won it in OT. Alaska was only able to put a 14-point lead because of their treys, but other than that, they did nothing to stop PF!

From Alaska Governor Joaqui Trillo:
“I really think that wasn’t a foul at a crucial point in the game, I think Purefoods would’ve wanted to earn the win. I think the win was given on a silver platter. We don’t want to complain. We don’t want to protest. We’ll take what’s given to us. I just feel bad because the guys played very well.”

A win is a win. Whether served on silver platter or not. I’m sure now that Alaska is down 2 games, they’d take any win, even served on a golden platter!

Good job Giants!! See you on, Sunday!
